How does Spinal Decompression work?

SPINAL COMPRESSION

When a bulging or herniated disc slips out of alignment, it may compress nearby nerves. The compression can block the nerves from sending and receiving messages from the central nervous system and brain, leading to chronic pain. As long as compression continues, damaged discs seldom heal and patients will suffer pain and other symptoms.

SPINAL DECOMPRESSION

Spinal Decompression creates space between the different vertebrae, providing room for the bulging or herniated disc to be drawn back into its central position in the spine. This relieves pressure on the nerves and the surrounding soft tissues. By reversing the effects of axial load or compression in the spine, increased circulation occurs which facilitates the flow of nutrients, oxygen and fluids back into the disc which helps stimulate the body’s healing mechanism.

We use manual decompression so we make sure to restore full range of motion in all the joints, in all the directions the joints are supposed to move.

To accomplish this, we have to: The Doctor Actually Treats you!

  1. Break up Scar Tissue and Adhesions that restrict movement

  2. Stretch out the ligament and tendons

  3. Restore Nerve communications

    • acupuncture

    • spinal adjustments

    • extremety adjustments

    • nutritional deficiency restoration

    • light therapy

    • electromagnetic pulse

    • diet

  4. Get as much motion in the joints as possible so the joint can heal.

Spinal Decompression Basics-Here’s how spinal decompression is supposed to work naturally and what you can expect during treatment:

When you lie down at night the spine is supposed to decompress and elongate and there are multiple components that can inhibit that including scar tissue, adhesions, organ malfunction, nutritional deficiencies and even emotional stress causes tension and can affect decompression.

Spinal decompression also promotes increased blood flow to your spinal discs that encourages nutrient-rich fluids and oxygen to flow inside, where they promote cell renewal, tissue repair, and long-term healing. If you have disc compression and it was not from injury, then you might have nutrient-poor fluids, poor circulation and the diseases associated with poor circulation like diabetes. when that happens, you won't get cell renewal, tissue repair or long term healing just by lying down at night.

So, now you can see that just making an adjustment and hoping it helps or getting on a machine and hoping it helps is generally deficient as far as long term results.

If your main goal of spinal decompression therapy is to provide immediate pain relief and promote an optimal healing environment for several spinal disc conditions, you will want to know all the causes of the condition and what you need to give the body and how you need to affect the mind to get the proper healing systems of the body working again. That is something many Chiropractors do and some do very well: This will never be accomplished by a machine alone!

Bulging Discs
Spinal discs that have been pushed outside of their usual space in the spinal canal can put pressure on nearby nerves, causing localized pain or pain in other areas of your body. Left untreated, a bulging disc is likely to eventually rupture.

Herniated Discs
Spinal discs that crack and leak some of their soft interior gel have ruptured, or herniated. The gel from a herniated disc can irritate nearby nerves, and may even cause a burning sensation that radiates from your lower back into your legs.

Degenerative Discs disease

Dispite what you might have heard, most spinal degenerations are not an aging problem. Rather, they are injuries that were never corrected or the body had or has interference that keeps it from repairing and restoring proper function. Our philosophy is give the body what it needs and it will heal itself. Our Goal is to find what ever interference is causing it to degenerate and remove that interference by what ever means necessary. We find what works and that is what we do.

Advanced chiropractic care you can trust

Although you may have some pain relief after your first couple of sessions, most people can expect to obtain long-lasting pain relief once the body has what it needs to heal and that takes time. degeneration does happen over night, but the good thing is it doesn't have to take years to heal like it took years to degenerate. The frequency of treatments are very important especially the first 4-6 weeks because we have to restore joint movement and keep the joint moving. as long as it is moving, it is healing. when it gets stuck it is degenerating. We don't have a one size fits all because we have no two people with the same condition, the same medication, the same level of degeneration, the same mindset. Each person is unique even tho they may have the same or similar symptoms.
